Materia medica covering the cardiovascular and nervous system as it relates to the Fire Element and mental health will be emphasized. Lucinda Herring ~ Reimagining Death: Bringing Nature, Creativity and Healing to Death's Threshold
The way that we are “doing death” in our society today often does not allow one to bring their natural and instinctive understanding and wisdom to the threshold of death. Lucinda’s 3-hour hands-on workshop will empower you to reimagine what is possible at the end of life. And, when you or a loved one dies, make choices that allow tending death in more nourishing and sustainable ways. The three stages of death’s threshold will be explored: the bardo of dying, the moment of death and after-death care. The emerging field of death doulas mainly addresses the first and second stages. Lucinda has experience in these stages as an interfaith minister and “gatekeeper". Currently, her work as a home funeral/natural burial guide and licensed green funeral director, is focused in after-death care. Her workshop will be experiential and informative, with hands on practice in the sacred task of caring for our own dead again, in natural, creative, “green” healing ways. (3 Hours)

This is about opening to connect to your own ancestral roots and plant allies. We’ll use some guided visualization, aromatherapy (from fresh plants) and energy work such as Reiki and qigong to welcome ancestral wisdom into this sacred space. You’ll learn how to use your voice to tap into this deeply nourishing practice of meditation.

Each morning we will focus in on inhabiting our larger energetic structure- our "Sacred Anatomy."
As we deepen our presence through the understanding of our energy structure, we will expand our capacity to sense the energies of plants.
Communication with plants will happen through a process of self inquiry that will then extend to the plant/ person relationship. We will sense plants individually, then as a group, sharing our discoveries. My approach involves keeping a sense of humor and curiosity. What’s in my yard? Whether you live in a city or in the woods there is always something to gather. Nearly everyone has access to a backyard, a field or a forest. Our Mother Earth has provided us with all we need to encourage our bodies to heal themselves. Let’s play with the basics and revel in our own ability to heal ourselves and others. All voices welcome to this experiential workshop combining our love and knowledge of the plants we care about: herbs, flowers, food, and our voices.
You'll learn about the latest discoveries in science, quantum physics and biology regarding plants and sound. Mosa will
engage improvisation and the authentic moment, to guide participants in a safe and relaxed way into sounding their unique moment. Starting with exercises to warm up, relax into sounding and have fun, participants will then choose their favorite plant, flower, herb, vegetable, etc. then through a guided meditation, you will begin to create a love song to your plant. Each person will leave the space singing their love song to the plant and return singing/sounding the plant’s response.
Together we will create a symphony, the Song of the Garden.
Laurie Quesinberry ~ Tales of a Digger: Journey from Poacher to Steward
This class is the story of my personal journey from poaching plants to becoming a steward of the mountain where my family lives. By sharing this raw look at the life and history of the people of the Appalachian who wild harvest plants as means to provide for their families, I hope that views of diggers will shift and herbalists will be encouraged to work one on one with wild harvesters; a way of working with the plants that I believe restores ancient wisdoms and promotes sustainability.
For many, the language of the plants can be sporadic, mixed and hard to decipher. Join Laurie as she opens up the world where the plants live; before they become part of ingredients lists.
Sharing the principles of the harvesting doctrine of signatures, you’ll learning how the plants offer themselves for our use and how by following their lead we can assure sustainability. With a focus on ancestral connections to the wild garden and the sacredness of connecting with both the land and those who walked it long before us, Laurie will share how wild harvesting enhances the medicine we make. Jane Valencia ~ Tree Secrets: A Walk into a Pacific Northwest Ogham
In the early medieval Irish Ogham, or "tree alphabet," each letter embodies a particular tree or plant spirit. In this Celtic-infused workshop we'll pass time in the company of trees, both those named in the Ogham and our native trees. We'll explore firsthand their energy, teachings, folklore, and medicine uses by way of our senses and connection, and begin creating our own Pacific Northwest ogham. This is a practical class for women to better understand their exquisitely orchestrated menstrual cycles. Knowledge is power especially when it is your own body. You can know when you are fertile, when not, and use this to your advantage. If you understand the menstrual cycle and some about your hormones, you can also better understand how hormonal or mechanical methods of birth control work. The class will go into some depth of these things to help a woman better understand what kind of family planning could work best for her.

I will cover some of the causes related to asthma and other lung conditions including environmental stresses such as smoke inhalation. Herbs & diet considerations that work well to address compromised lung function.
The causes of lung injury are many, from allergic reaction to strong odors, exercise and occupational hazards. Addressing the presenting symptoms such as wet and dry conditions, types of coughing, ways of breathing will help determine which herbs work best to strengthen lungs and relieve distress for different people.

This class seeks to empower everyone, no matter where they live, to start growing some of their own medicinals. A new way of using medicinal herbs in the landscape, this class will focus on the Herbscape which will stray from the more typical “herb Garden” model and offer numerous ways herbs can be incorporated into your landscape from the larger homestead to the balcony in the city and everything in between. We will also discuss the value and importance of landscaping with medicinal herbs for increasing pollinators and the healing relationship which develops between herbs and those growing and tending them.
